Homeowner’s Insurance

At Hixson & Malinowski Insurance Agency,  we know how hard you’ve worked to turn your house into a home. Working with us, we’ll help you protect what matters most with a home insurance policy you can tailor to your life.

Homeowners insurance is there to help you ease the financial burden of repairing or rebuilding your home and replacing your belongings after commonplace disasters — a fire, lightning strike, tornado or even a break-in. It also can help cover your costs in a lawsuit over an injury — if your tree damages your neighbor’s car or a guest falls down your stairs.

Why Do I Need Home Insurance?

Accidents can happen at any time. Having the right insurance can help protect your home and belongings.

While standard Home Insurance can cover common disasters, as well as injuries of others & theft, not all damages and accidents may be insured under a standard policy. That’s why it’s important to talk to an insurance specialist at Hixson & Malinowski Insurance Agency about specific coverage options to meet your individual needs.

Homeowner’s Insurance Coverage Details

We offer protection for your home and personal property in addition to liability coverage if you're responsible for another person's injury or damage to their property.

In most states, standard homeowners insurance policies provide four main types of coverage.

  • Dwelling coverage helps you pay for repairs or rebuilding your home if it’s damaged or destroyed.

Example: You may be protected if your roof caves in from the weight of ice, snow, or sleet, damaging interior components such as walls, kitchen cabinets, and countertops.

  • Personal property coverage helps you pay the costs of fixing or replacing your belongings if they’re destroyed in a covered loss. For more expensive items, such as jewelry, art and collectibles, you may need to "schedule" the item, also known as adding an insurance rider to your homeowners insurance policy.

Example: Someone breaks into your car and steals your cell phone and work tools/equipment. Your home insurance policy may pay to replace the stolen items, up to the limits of your policy and minus your deductible.

  • Liability coverage helps you protect your financial assets if you’re at fault for an injury or property damage. Additional coverages may be available to purchase for libel, slander, and other lawsuits. If you need more than a $500,000 liability limit, a separate umbrella policy may provide additional coverage.

Example: A delivery person falls on your steps and breaks their arm. If you're found to be liable, your homeowners insurance may cover their medical bills and lost wages.

  • Loss of use coverage helps you pay for rent, food and other increased costs if you have to live somewhere else while your home is being repaired.

Example: A fire damages your kitchen and you're unable to live in your home while the repairs are being made. You may be covered for the cost of a hotel stay and meals, above what you normally spend on groceries.
